NEEDED: COORDINATOR FOR ST. THOMAS’ MEALS ON WHEELS (MOW) DELIVERY OUTREACH PROGRAM
Michelle and Mel Plewes are retiring as coordinators for St. Thomas’ Meals on Wheels (MOW) Delivery Outreach Program. If St. Thomas’ is to continue its involvement, a new coordinator must be appointed. We are happy to assist in training the new coordinator(s) for the July duties.
The role is well-organized, with all parish MOW volunteers accessible via email, making communication and scheduling straightforward. The coordinator supervises the Wednesday meal pick-ups from the Community Care for South Hastings (CCSH) kitchen during July and December. Each pick-up requires about 40 minutes to oversee meal collection and handle any last-minute changes. Additional duties include maintaining records and arranging schedules, which takes about four hours in the month leading up to our July and December service periods.
St. Thomas’ is responsible for seven delivery routes, covering the urbanized portion of Belleville. Volunteers typically work in pairs—a driver and a delivery person—though two routes are completed by individuals.
This outreach program not only serves a vital need but also reinforces St. Thomas’ Anglican Church’s commitment to community service. We invite you to watch our video describing the St. Thomas’ MOW Outreach Program:

We hope a parishioner will step forward by March 31, 2025, to take on this important role. The next delivery month is July 2025. If no coordinator is found, St. Thomas’ will notify CCSH of its withdrawal from the program, and we will encourage our volunteers to apply individually to CCSH to continue meal deliveries.
A heartfelt thank you to all volunteers who have faithfully delivered meals on Wednesdays during July and December since 1996. Special thanks to Sandra Kennerley for her invaluable behind-the-scenes support over the years. Her dedication has been instrumental in the program’s success.
We sincerely hope St. Thomas’ will continue to be part of this essential community service for years to come.
