5.St. Thomas’ Stitchers and Knitters

Welcome New Members

These groups meet weekly on Tuesday mornings during the winter, spring and fall seasons, between 9 a.m. for the stitchers, 9:30 a.m. for the knitters until noon.

The stitchers make quilts and small projects for sale with the proceeds being given to the church. As well, new quilting and sewing techniques are taught to us which gives us the opportunity to enrich our lives through learning.

As for the knitters, we knit prayer shawls, pocket prayer squares as well as many items which are sold, and again the proceeds are given to the church. We share patterns, ideas and knowledge and thoroughly enjoy our time together.

The sale of the stitchers’ and knitters’ beautiful work takes place mainly at St. Thomas’ yearly Christmas Market in November, where we combine our talents with those of St. Thomas’ bakers and preservers.

Our community of stitchers and knitters is a very supportive, relaxed and friendly group which always welcomes new members, regardless of sewing and knitting ability.

If you wish more information, please contact the following people:

Stitchers: Joan Rockburne, 613-966-0652 or joan.rockburne@sympatico.ca

Knitters: Bonnie Dobson, 613-966-9757 or bonn@kos.net

Coldest Night of the Year

On Saturday, February 24th, thousands of people all across Canada will be walking to raise money for local charities serving people experiencing hurt, homelessness, and hunger.

The Belleville and area walk is raising money for Grace Inn Shelter. The walk that TEAM ST. THOMAS’ will be involved in, starts at Grace Inn Shelter on 315 Church St. at 4:00pm on Sat. Feb. 24 and at 5 pm we begin our route of 5 km or 2 km. A light meal will be served at 6 pm at St. Thomas’ Church Hall.

The route heads south on Church St., then goes east on Victoria Ave., cuts across on Herchimer for the 5 km route and Charles St. for the 2 km route.

We follow Bridge St. back to St. Thomas’ Church (for meal) and then head back to Grace Inn. Please consider joining TEAM ST. THOMAS’ or making a donation.
