Lenten Pastoral Epistle-

22 February 2012
My Brothers and Sisters in Christ,
Today is Shrove Tuesday and amidst the many pancake suppers
happening around the diocese we find ourselves on the cusp of the
Season of Lent once more with Ash Wednesday observances tomorrow.
We have spent the last few weeks of the Season of Epiphany with the
theme of manifestation, light and revelation before our eyes as our
readings have focussed on the person and mission of Jesus. Epiphany is
a time of outward focus, where we join with the disciples in the Biblical
story, journey and learn with Jesus as we find our place in the Mission of
God. Lent now takes us on an inward focussed journey of the soul.
